Hieromonk Akakios was born in Agia Paraskevi, Volos.
Close to his uncle, who was a carpenter, his father’s brother, he learned the art he has been practicing so far, with particular sensitivity and dedication to its traditional character.
Initially, he chose to stand in the Holy Monastery of Flaumouri. In this place he practiced even more his craftsmanship, undertaking other work. His love for the rescue of the old manuscripts led him to the learning of artistic binding, which he perfected year after year. The workshop of traditional bookbinding at the Holy Monastery of Agia Paraskevi, Makrinitsa, Pelion, founded it in order to rescue this art, which is becoming more and more extinct. At the same time, however, it also covers the maintenance of the Holy Monastery, as well as its livelihood needs as a unpaid clergyman.
